Dear
Friends:
For people who would like to come to a Safekeeper Vest trunk
show, I've decided to list all scheduled shows for six months
ahead. This is in response to a recent airport encounter between
a Seattle customer, and a Safekeeper Vest wearer who has moved
from Washington DC to Berkeley California. The California customer
bought her vest 12 years ago, before moving to the West Coast.
She didn't know how to get in touch with me (since I didn't
have a web site) and therefore she has missed 12 wonderful Bay
Area trunk shows over the years. |

I've just come home from a trip to Vietnam to look for dyed indigo fabric. I covered the country as far north as Sapa, on the border of China, back to Hanoi and down the coast to Hue and Hoi An. Then inland to the mountains, the highland area of Dalat. From there I continued south to Saigon (now known as Ho Chi Minh City) and then out to the Mekong River Delta.
I started in Sapa because I had heard that they dye their cotton cloth with indigo, which I like to use in designing my vests. In the pictures that follow you will see me buying cloth, and you will see why I started our trip on that high note!
The
pictures of Vietnam, in my slide
show are just a handful of the 600 or so taken by
Anne-Marie Hipkins.
CONTACT INFORMATION
If there is no trunk show in your city or state, you may email
me at mariongartler@hotmail.com.
However, I am not able to answer emails personally, my assistants
do that for me. You won't be able to order any vests on this
web site because it's for information only, not for ordering!
What I will do here is post an invitation for the trunk shows
that are coming up immediately, and the overall schedule for
the months ahead. I'll change the menu of the future trunk shows
every month, so that you'll know what part of the country I'll
be in.
Sincerely,
Marion Gartler, Safekeeper Vest
